The morning <i>Tamid<\/i> was brought starting from <i>amud hashachar<\/i>, and based on that, the time of praying <i>Shacharit<\/i> <i>l&#8217;chatchilah<\/i> should begin at <i>amud hashachar<\/i>. Nonetheless, the <i>Chachamim<\/i> say that it is proper to recite the <i>Amidah<\/i> after <i>netz hachamah<\/i>, as it is written (Psalms 72:5), \u201c<i>Yera\u2019ucha im shamesh<\/i>\u201d (\u201cLet them fear You from when the sun [shines]\u201d) (<i>Berachot<\/i> 9b). <i>B\u2019dieved<\/i>, if one recites the <i>Amidah<\/i> from <i>amud hashachar<\/i>, he fulfills his obligation because he prayed at the time when the morning <i>Tamid <\/i>offering was brought (<i>Shulchan Aruch<\/i> 89:1).<\/p>\n<p>The most praiseworthy time to pray follows the manner of the early <i>chasidim<\/i> (devoted ones) who prayed at <i>vatikin<\/i>, for they would recite the <i>Amidah<\/i> at <i>netz hachamah<\/i>.<sup><a id=\"_te02ftnref11_4\" class=\"aup1\" href=\"#_te02ftn11_4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The time to pray the <i>Amidah<\/i> lasts four hours according to Rabbi Yehudah, for that is the last time that the morning <i>Tamid<\/i> offering may be brought. Even though, in the opinion of the <i>Chachamim<\/i>, the time to offer the <i>Tamid<\/i> lasts until <i>chatzot<\/i>, the halachah follows Rabbi Yehudah, since in <i>Masechet<\/i> <i>Eduyot<\/i>, in which all the <i>mishnayot<\/i> were chosen as halachah, the opinion of Rabbi Yehudah is brought. Therefore, the time to recite <i>Shacharit<\/i> lasts until the end of the first four hours of the day (<i>Berachot<\/i> 27a). Even so, the <i>Chachamim<\/i>\u2019s words were not rejected completely, and if four hours passed and one did not yet recite <i>Shacharit<\/i>, he may <i>b\u2019dieved<\/i> pray until <i>chatzot.<\/i> Although his prayer does not have the value of prayer recited on time, nevertheless, it still has certain value (as clarified further in halachah 11).<\/p>\n<div>\n<hr size=\"1\" \/>\n<div><a id=\"_te02ftn11_4\" href=\"#_te02ftnref11_4\">[4]<\/a>.\u00a0See <i>Beit Yosef<\/i> 89:1 and <i>Shulchan Aruch HaRav<\/i> 89:2. <b>In summary<\/b>, there are three main opinions: 1) According to the <i>Rambam<\/i> and <i>Rabbeinu Chananel<\/i>, the essence of the institution of <i>Shacharit<\/i> is from <i>netz<\/i> until the end of four hours, and only <i>b\u2019dieved<\/i> one may pray from <i>amud hashachar<\/i>, as ruled in <i>Shulchan Aruch<\/i> 89:1 and <i>Mishnah Berurah<\/i> 4. 2) According to the <i>Rosh<\/i>, the <i>Gemara<\/i> teaches that <i>vatikin<\/i> is the ideal time, as it says, \u201c<i>Yera\u2019ucha im shamesh<\/i>\u201d (\u201cLet them fear you from when the sun [shines]\u201d), but the time before <i>Netz<\/i> and the four hours after it are equal, for any time that is valid for offering the <i>Tamid<\/i> is valid for praying <i>Shacharit<\/i>. 3) According to<i> Rabbeinu Yerucham<\/i>, the time to pray <i>b\u2019dieved<\/i> is from <i>amud hashachar<\/i> until <i>misheyakir<\/i>, and from <i>misheyakir<\/i> until <i>netz<\/i> is the time to pray <i>l\u2019chatchilah<\/i>, as well as the time after <i>netz<\/i>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anshei Knesset HaGedolah instituted praying three prayers every day, and established their times to correspond to the Tamid offerings.
