For example, let us say that the homes of two neighbors (who do not live in a city) are located 1,000 <em>amot<\/em> apart from each other. Each neighbor has his own <em>te\u0125um Shabbat<\/em>, part of which overlaps with his neighbor\u2019s <em>te\u0125um Shabbat<\/em>, and part of which does not.<\/p>\n<p>The laws of <em>te\u0125umin<\/em> apply to one\u2019s animals and belongings, and to Jews as well as non-Jews (see n, 12 below). Therefore, if one carried his <em>talit<\/em> to the edge of his <em>te\u0125um<\/em>, and his friend wants to borrow it but has a different <em>te\u0125um<\/em>, the friend may not carry the <em>talit<\/em> beyond its owner\u2019s <em>te\u0125um<\/em> (SA 397:3).
