As\u00ed tambi\u00e9n, hab\u00eda quienes acostumbraban ayunar en la v\u00edspera del nuevo mes y recitar el rezo de \u00abYom Kipur Kat\u00e1n\u00bb (peque\u00f1o d\u00eda de Kipur) previo al servicio de Minj\u00e1. La v\u00edspera de Rosh Jodesh fue denominada \u00abYom Kipur Kat\u00e1n\u00bb, pues as\u00ed como Kipur es el tiempo de expiaci\u00f3n para todo el a\u00f1o, la v\u00edspera de Rosh Jodesh lo es para todo el mes transcurrido (ver Mishn\u00e1 Berur\u00e1 417:4, Kaf HaJa\u00edm 10:21).
