Sin embargo, en la pr\u00e1ctica, aunque sea claro que la persona a salvar no habr\u00e1 de observar Shabat, es preceptivo hacerlo pues la meta esencial de la Tor\u00e1 es de incrementar la vida. Por lo tanto, se profana el Shabat tambi\u00e9n por una persona que no tiene pleno uso de sus facultades mentales y por ende est\u00e1 exenta del cumplimiento de los preceptos y para salvar a un enfermo en estado inconsciente que est\u00e1 por fallecer y as\u00ed, permitirle vivir una hora m\u00e1s (<em>Beur Halaj\u00e1 <\/em>329:4 &#8216;\u05d0\u05dc\u05d0&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>Se profana el Shabat para salvar la vida de un feto en el vientre materno aunque tenga menos de cuarenta d\u00edas de gestado (<em>Hagaot Ritba<\/em>, <em>Beur Halaj\u00e1<\/em> 330:7 &#8216;\u05d0\u05d5&#8217;); tambi\u00e9n por un beb\u00e9 que naci\u00f3 prematuro. Si bien en el pasado era claro que quien nac\u00eda en el octavo mes del embarazo y a\u00fan no le hab\u00edan crecido cabellos\u00a0 o u\u00f1as no habr\u00eda de sobrevivir por lo que no se profanaba el Shabat para salvarle, hoy d\u00eda que la medicina progres\u00f3 y existen las incubadoras, mientras los m\u00e9dicos consideren que hay probabilidad de que viva y se mejore, se profana por \u00e9l el Shabat (ver <em>Shulj\u00e1n Aruj<\/em> 330:7-8, <em>Shmirat Shabat Kehiljat\u00e1<\/em> 36:12 nota 26).<\/p>\n<p>Por la base de la ley un jud\u00edo no puede profanar el Shabat para salvar a un gentil pues el permiso de hacerlo aplica sobre quien tiene el deber de observarlo. Sin embargo, en la pr\u00e1ctica, esta halaj\u00e1 se cumple \u00fanicamente si en el lugar hay otro gentil que puede salvar al afectado. De no haberlo, el jud\u00edo debe atender al gentil aunque esto implique profanar el Shabat. Esto se debe a que nosotros tenemos inter\u00e9s en que los gentiles salven jud\u00edos por lo que tambi\u00e9n debemos socorrerles.
