Si des pens\u00e9es \u00e9trang\u00e8res viennent \u00e0 l\u2019esprit, on les \u00e9carte de son esprit et l\u2019on revient \u00e0 sa pri\u00e8re. M\u00eame si l\u2019on ne parvient pas \u00e0 se concentrer sur tous les mots de la pri\u00e8re, on essaie \u00e0 tout le moins de se concentrer sur la r\u00e9citation de la formule finale de chaque b\u00e9n\u00e9diction (les mots <em>Baroukh ata Ado-na\u00ef <\/em>, suivis de leur conclusion). Si l\u2019on ne peut pas se concentrer \u00e0 chaque b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, on s\u2019efforcera de se concentrer durant la premi\u00e8re (<em>Birkat Avot<\/em>, b\u00e9n\u00e9diction des patriarches) et durant la dix-huiti\u00e8me, <em>Modim<\/em> (b\u00e9n\u00e9diction de la reconnaissance), au d\u00e9but et \u00e0 la fin desquelles on se prosterne. A tout le moins, on doit se concentrer durant la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction des patriarches, par laquelle d\u00e9bute la \u2018Amida<sup><a href='#_te01ftn17_5' id='_te01ftnref17_5' class='aup1'>[5]<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Si l\u2019on a d\u00e9j\u00e0 pri\u00e9, et que l\u2019on ne se soit pas concentr\u00e9 durant la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction des patriarches (<em>Birkat avot<\/em>), la r\u00e8gle stricte voudrait que l\u2019on r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e2t la \u2018Amida, car la <em>kavana <\/em>durant la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction est une condition de validit\u00e9 de la \u2018Amida. N\u00e9anmoins, \u00e0 la suite de la chute des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations, et en raison des soucis de l\u2019esprit, la capacit\u00e9 de concentration s\u2019est affaiblie. Aussi, les d\u00e9cisionnaires modernes ont donn\u00e9 pour instruction de ne pas r\u00e9p\u00e9ter la \u2018Amida dans un tel cas, car il est \u00e0 craindre que l\u2019on n\u2019oublie, m\u00eame la deuxi\u00e8me fois, de se concentrer durant la <em>Birkat avot<\/em>, et que cette r\u00e9p\u00e9tition ne soit vaine (Rama 101, 1, <em>Kaf Ha\u2019ha\u00efm<\/em> 4).<\/p>\n<p>Si l\u2019on est sur le point de conclure la r\u00e9citation de la <em>Birkat avot<\/em>, et que l\u2019on s\u2019aper\u00e7oive que l\u2019on ne s\u2019est pas concentr\u00e9 durant sa lecture, on peut, tout le temps que l\u2019on n\u2019a pas prononc\u00e9 le nom divin (<em>Ado-na\u00ef<\/em>) concluant la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, reprendre sa r\u00e9citation \u00e0 partir de <em>Elo-h\u00e9 Avraham<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0Dieu d\u2019Abraham\u00a0\u00bb), en se concentrant cette fois (<em>Michna<\/em> <em>Beroura<\/em> 101, 4 au nom du <em>\u2018Hay\u00e9 Adam<\/em>). Si l\u2019on a d\u00e9j\u00e0 prononc\u00e9 le nom divin, on conclura la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction avec <em>kavana<\/em>, et il sera bon de repasser en pens\u00e9e sur les mots de la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction des patriarches. En effet, selon Ma\u00efmonide, la pens\u00e9e peut \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme ayant valeur de parole. Mais si l\u2019on a d\u00e9j\u00e0 commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9citer la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction suivante (en disant <em>Ata guibor<\/em> \u2013 \u00ab\u00a0Tu es puissant\u00a0\u00bb), on continuera sa \u2018Amida, et l\u2019on s\u2019efforcera de se concentrer ensuite en r\u00e9citant toutes les b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions, en particulier durant <em>Modim<\/em><sup><a href='#_te01ftn17_6' id='_te01ftnref17_6' class='aup1'>[6]<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<hr size=\"1\" \/>\n<div>\n<a href='#_te01ftnref17_5' id='_te01ftn17_5'>[5]<\/a>. <em>Choul\u2019han \u2018Aroukh<\/em> 101, 1 et <em>Michna Beroura<\/em> 1-3. Si l\u2019on est pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 au point que l\u2019on sait ne pas pouvoir se concentrer, m\u00eame pendant la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction (<em>Birkat avot<\/em>), on ne dira pas la \u2018Amida. Certes, une telle situation, dans laquelle un homme sait <em>\u00e0 l\u2019avance<\/em> qu\u2019il ne pourra se concentrer durant la <em>Birkat avot<\/em> \u2013 n\u2019est pas fr\u00e9quente\u00a0; mais le principe est qu\u2019il ne faut pas prier a priori en ayant conscience de ne pouvoir se concentrer durant la <em>Birkat avot<\/em>. D\u2019apr\u00e8s le <em>Choul\u2019han \u2018Aroukh<\/em>, m\u00eame a posteriori, si l\u2019on a d\u00e9j\u00e0 pri\u00e9 et que l\u2019on ne se soit pas concentr\u00e9 durant la <em>Birkat avot<\/em>, il faut r\u00e9p\u00e9ter sa \u2018Amida\u00a0; \u00e0 plus forte raison ne faut-il pas commencer \u00e0 prier en sachant ne pouvoir parvenir \u00e0 cette concentration minimale. C\u2019est \u00e9galement ce qui semble ressortir du <em>B\u00e9our Halakha<\/em> (\u05d5\u05d0\u05dd). (Toutefois, selon <em>Ich\u00e9 Isra\u00ebl<\/em>, si le temps de r\u00e9citation de la pri\u00e8re est sur le point d\u2019expirer, on priera, m\u00eame si l\u2019on sait ne pas pouvoir se concentrer durant la <em>Birkat avot<\/em>).<\/li>\n<p><a href='#_te01ftnref17_6' id='_te01ftn17_6'>[6]<\/a>. Les A\u2019haronim expliquent qu\u2019en pratique, m\u00eame si l\u2019on ne s\u2019est pas concentr\u00e9 du tout, on est quitte a posteriori, dans la mesure o\u00f9 l\u2019on a manifest\u00e9 l\u2019intention d\u2019accomplir la mitsva de prier. C\u2019est ce qu\u2019\u00e9crit le <em>Chibol\u00e9 Hal\u00e9qet<\/em> au nom des Richonim. De m\u00eame, le <em>Kaf Ha\u2019ha\u00efm<\/em> 101, 4 au nom du <em>\u2018Hessed Laalafim<\/em> \u00e9crit que les b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions de celui qui prie sans <em>kavana <\/em>ne sont pas consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme dites en vain. C\u2019est-\u00e0-dire que cette pri\u00e8re, \u00e0 ce qu\u2019il semble, m\u00e9rite le nom de pri\u00e8re, mais qu\u2019il y manque seulement la qualit\u00e9 de <em>kavana<\/em>, ce qui a conduit les sages \u00e0 dire qu\u2019il fallait r\u00e9p\u00e9ter cette pri\u00e8re. La preuve en est que, si l\u2019on se souvient, au milieu de la \u2018Amida, que l\u2019on ne s\u2019est pas concentr\u00e9 dans la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, on ne revient pas au d\u00e9but, contrairement au cas o\u00f9 l\u2019on s\u2019aper\u00e7oit que l\u2019on a mentionn\u00e9 la pluie (dans la deuxi\u00e8me b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, <em>Ata guibor<\/em>) alors que l\u2019on se trouve en \u00e9t\u00e9 (voir chap. 18 \u00a7 4 s.), cas dans lequel on reprend la \u2018Amida au d\u00e9but. On peut donc comprendre pourquoi, de nos jours, on ne r\u00e9p\u00e8te pas la \u2018Amida en cas de carence de <em>kavana<\/em> dans la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction. Cf. <em>Yalqout Yossef<\/em> I p. 157 et <em>Yabia\u2019 Omer<\/em> III 9, 3. <strong>Si l\u2019on a l\u2019habitude de prier avec <em>kavana<\/em> durant la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction<\/strong> et que, pour une fois, on ne s\u2019est pas concentr\u00e9, on peut r\u00e9p\u00e9ter sa \u2018Amida en se concentrant, \u00e0 condition d\u2019\u00eatre s\u00fbr de se concentrer lorsqu\u2019on la r\u00e9p\u00e9tera. Il est bon, en ce cas, de stipuler int\u00e9rieurement que, si une telle r\u00e9p\u00e9tition n\u2019est pas n\u00e9cessaire, en raison de l\u2019usage aujourd\u2019hui r\u00e9pandu consistant \u00e0 ne pas r\u00e9p\u00e9ter, la \u2018Amida que l\u2019on s\u2019appr\u00eate \u00e0 dire doit \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une pri\u00e8re additionnelle volontaire (<em>n\u00e9dava<\/em>).<\/li>\n<p>Selon le <em>Michna Beroura<\/em> 101, 4, si l\u2019on s\u2019aper\u00e7oit, avant la formule finale de la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, que l\u2019on ne s\u2019est pas concentr\u00e9 durant la <em>Birkat avot<\/em>, on doit reprendre sa r\u00e9citation \u00e0 partir d\u2019<em>Elo-h\u00e9 Avraham<\/em>. Voir le <em>B\u00e9our Halakha<\/em> (\u05d5\u05d4\u05d0\u05d9\u05d3\u05e0\u05d0) qui conseille \u00e0 ceux qui ont conclu la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction d\u2019attendre la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition de l\u2019officiant, et de s\u2019acquitter en \u00e9coutant l\u2019officiant r\u00e9citer cette premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, avant de poursuivre leur propre r\u00e9citation de la \u2018Amida. Certains ont toutefois \u00e9mis des doutes\u00a0: comment s\u2019acquitterait-on de la premi\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9diction par l\u2019\u00e9coute, puis des b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions suivantes en les disant soi-m\u00eame, alors que les trois premi\u00e8res b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme une seule et m\u00eame vaste b\u00e9n\u00e9diction\u00a0(question rapport\u00e9e au nom du <em>\u2018Hazon Ich<\/em>)\u00a0?
