Autrefois, toute personne qui le d\u00e9sirait ajoutait sa propre supplication, qu\u2019elle disait en s\u2019inclinant, apr\u00e8s la \u2018Amida. C\u2019est peut-\u00eatre pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment en raison de sa grande \u00e9l\u00e9vation, en ce qu\u2019elle traduit l\u2019abolition enti\u00e8re du moi \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard du Cr\u00e9ateur b\u00e9ni soit-Il, que cette pri\u00e8re doit sortir du c\u0153ur, par l\u2019effet d\u2019une libre volont\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque des Gu\u00e9onim<sup><a href='#_te01ftn21_b' id='_te01ftnref21_b' class='aup1'>[b]<\/a><\/sup>, un rituel fixe a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 se former, pour la <em>Nefilat apayim <\/em>comme pour les autres supplications (<em>Ta\u2019hanounim<\/em>) qui suivent la \u2018Amida. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque des Richonim<sup><a href='#_te01ftn21_c' id='_te01ftnref21_c' class='aup1'>[c]<\/a><\/sup>, le rituel s\u2019est formalis\u00e9 davantage, au point que tout le peuple juif a pris sur lui, comme obligation, de dire des supplications d\u00e9termin\u00e9es. Il semble qu\u2019en raison des \u00e9preuves de l\u2019exil, qui se sont accrues au fil du temps, les c\u0153urs se sont obtur\u00e9s, au point que nous avons eu besoin d\u2019un rituel fixe de supplications. Et puisque le rituel des <em>Ta\u2019hanounim<\/em> s\u2019est r\u00e9pandu apr\u00e8s la dispersion des communaut\u00e9s \u00e0 travers leurs exils, les diff\u00e9rences entre rituels ashk\u00e9naze et s\u00e9farade y sont plus apparentes que dans d\u2019autres parties de l\u2019office.<\/p>\n<p>Puisque\u00a0 la <em>Nefilat apayim<\/em> est une pri\u00e8re qui exprime la brisure du c\u0153ur, dans le d\u00e9laissement du corps et le don de l\u2019\u00e2me, on ne la r\u00e9cite pas les jours de r\u00e9jouissance li\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019observance d\u2019une mitsva. Les kabbalistes expliquent que toutes les r\u00e9parations spirituelles r\u00e9alis\u00e9es les jours ordinaires par le biais de la <em>Nefilat apayim<\/em> se trouvent accomplies, aux jours de joie li\u00e9e \u00e0 une mitsva, par le biais de la saintet\u00e9 du jour (<em>Kaf Ha\u2019ha\u00efm<\/em> 131, 54). De m\u00eame, lorsque des gens ayant un motif de r\u00e9jouissance li\u00e9e \u00e0 une mitsva se trouvent \u00e0 la synagogue, on ne dit pas les <em>Ta\u2019hanounim<\/em> (comme nous l\u2019expliquerons plus en d\u00e9tail aux paragraphes 7 et 8). Nous avons d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu que, si l\u2019on s\u2019en tient \u00e0 la stricte r\u00e8gle de droit, il n\u2019est pas obligatoire de dire les <em>Ta\u2019hanounim<\/em>\u00a0; aussi, \u00e0 chaque fois qu\u2019il est douteux de devoir les dire, la consigne est de s\u2019en abstenir<sup><a href='#_te01ftn21_1' id='_te01ftnref21_1' class='aup1'>[1]<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>De m\u00eame, dans une maison de deuil, on a l\u2019usage de ne pas dire les <em>Ta\u2019hanounim<\/em>, car la mesure de rigueur y r\u00e9side, et l\u2019on doit prendre soin de ne pas intensifier la mesure de rigueur (<em>Michna Beroura <\/em>131, 20). En effet, dans la <em>Nefilat Apayim<\/em>, le fid\u00e8le \u00e9prouve en son corps et en son \u00e2me combien son existence est d\u00e9pendante de Dieu, combien il est lui-m\u00eame insignifiant devant Dieu\u00a0; or l\u2019endeuill\u00e9 \u00e9prouve d\u00e9j\u00e0 cela tr\u00e8s bien, et il n\u2019est pas n\u00e9cessaire d\u2019ajouter \u00e0 ce sentiment.<\/p>\n<div>\n<hr size=\"1\" \/>\n<div>\n<a href='#_te01ftnref21_b' id='_te01ftn21_b'>[b]<\/a>. Rabbi Yits\u2019haq Ibn Ghiat trouve un appui \u00e0 cette conduite dans <em>Baba Metsia<\/em> 59b\u00a0: [Imma Chalom, \u00e9pouse de Rabbi Eli\u00e9zer, \u00e9tait aussi la s\u0153ur de Raban Gamliel, lequel se tenait \u00e0 la t\u00eate des sages de Yavn\u00e9 lorsque Rabbi Eli\u00e9zer fut mis en anath\u00e8me par les Le d\u00e9saveu de Rabbi Eli\u00e9zer provoqua des perturbations de la nature, et Raban Gamliel manqua se noyer dans une temp\u00eate de mer. A partir de cet incident,] Imma Chalom ne laissait plus Rabbi Eli\u00e9zer dire la <em>Nefilat apayim <\/em>apr\u00e8s la \u2018Amida, car elle craignait que, ce faisant, il n\u2019\u00e9prouve trop fortement la difficult\u00e9 de sa situation, et qu\u2019il n\u2019en r\u00e9sulte un dommage pour son fr\u00e8re Raban Gamliel. Il ressort bien de ce r\u00e9cit que la <em>Nefilat apayim<\/em> est une pri\u00e8re facultative. D\u2019autres Richonim et des A\u2019haronim se prononcent dans le m\u00eame sens. Le <em>Birk\u00e9 Yossef<\/em> 131, 13 \u00e9crit \u00e9galement qu\u2019en tout cas de doute sur la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de dire ou non cette pri\u00e8re, il est pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable de s\u2019en abstenir <em>puisqu\u2019elle est facultative<\/em>.
