En effet, quiconque voit un singe ou un \u00e9l\u00e9phant dit\u00a0: <em>Baroukh Ata, Ado-na\u00ef, Elo-h\u00e9nou, M\u00e9lekh ha\u2018olam, m\u00e9chan\u00e9 habriot <\/em>(\u00ab\u00a0B\u00e9ni sois-Tu\u2026 qui fais des cr\u00e9atures hors du commun\u00a0\u00bb) (<em>Berakhot<\/em> 58b\u00a0; <em>Choul\u2018han \u2018Aroukh<\/em> 225, 8). Certes, si on les voit ensemble, une seule b\u00e9n\u00e9diction vaudra pour les deux. Mais s\u2019ils se trouvent en des endroits diff\u00e9rents du zoo, on devra dire une b\u00e9n\u00e9diction pour chacun d\u2019eux.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment pour ces deux animaux que les Sages ont prescrit une b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, car leur aspect, plus que celui des autres, \u00e9veille un particulier \u00e9tonnement. En effet, bien qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse d\u2019animaux, ils ont une certaine ressemblance avec l\u2019homme. Le singe ressemble \u00e0 l\u2019homme par la forme de son corps et par sa fa\u00e7on d\u2019utiliser ses mains. L\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9phant diff\u00e8re des autres animaux en ce que sa peau est lisse, sans poil, et en ce qu\u2019il use de sa trompe comme d\u2019une main (M\u00e9\u00efri sur <em>Berakhot <\/em>58b).<\/p>\n<p>Quiconque n\u2019a pas vu ces animaux trente jours durant devra r\u00e9citer la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction quand il les reverra. Certes, pour les autres cr\u00e9atures particuli\u00e8rement belles, ou bizarres, on a coutume de ne dire la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction que la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019on les voit, car il n\u2019est pas si certain qu\u2019elles soient assez \u00e9tranges ou belles. Mais ici, comme il est certain que les Sages ont prescrit une b\u00e9n\u00e9diction sur l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9phant et sur le singe, on redit la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, d\u00e8s lors que trente jours ont pass\u00e9 sans qu\u2019on les ait vus.<\/p>\n<p>Une autre b\u00e9n\u00e9diction incombe \u00e0 celui qui visite un zoo\u00a0: quand on voit un perroquet, spectaculaire par ses couleurs, ou quelque autre animal particuli\u00e8rement beau, on dira <em>Ch\u00e9-kakha lo b\u00e9\u2018olamo<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0pour ce qui te ressemble en ton monde\u00a0\u00bb). Puisque la mesure de la beaut\u00e9 n\u2019est pas chose enti\u00e8rement certaine, et puisqu\u2019il se peut que d\u2019autres beaux animaux se trouvent l\u00e0, on dira la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction sur une belle esp\u00e8ce, et l\u2019on formera l\u2019intention, en la r\u00e9citant, de s\u2019en acquitter \u00e9galement pour tous les autres beaux animaux pr\u00e9sents au zoo.
