Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, shlita, is the Rabbi of the Har Bracha community, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Bracha, and the author of the monumental Peninei Halakha series, a comprehensive and widely studied work on Jewish law in the modern era.

Rabbi Melamed’s approach to halakha is unique in its breadth and clarity. In his vision, halakha serves as a bridge between Divine morality and everyday life, forming a practical path toward tikun olam (repairing the world).
To achieve this, Peninei Halakha employs a distinct methodology: Rabbi Melamed begins by exploring the spiritual and conceptual foundations of the mitzvot (emunah and ta’amei hamitzvot) before tracing the practical law from its Talmudic roots down to modern-day technological, medical, and societal applications. His goal is to make halakha beloved and accessible to all. Origins and Global Impact
The foundations for Peninei Halakha were laid on the Arutz 7 radio station, where Rabbi Melamed delivered daily, concise halakha broadcasts. These popular segments brought the teachings of the Torah into tens of thousands of homes across Israel and served as the cornerstone for the first printed volumes.
Today, Peninei Halakha spans over 20 volumes. With hundreds of thousands of copies sold, the series has become a foundational text in homes, schools, and yeshivot worldwide. To serve the global Jewish community, the series is continually being translated into multiple languages, including English, French, Spanish, and Russian.
Rabbinic Pedigree and Education
Born in 5721 (1961) to Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed, shlita, and Rabbanit Shulamit, Rabbi Melamed was raised in the heart of the Merkaz HaRav tradition. From the age of fifteen, he studied for five years under the close guidance of Rabbi Tzvi Yehudah HaKohen Kook, zt”l, whom he considers his primary mentor. He also studied extensively under Rabbi Avraham Shapira, zt”l, internalizing their approaches to Torah and national responsibility.
He began his teaching career instructing Talmud and halakha at Rabbi Deutsch’s Kollel in Mea Shearim, where he studied alongside Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburg. He subsequently spent twenty years teaching Talmud and emunah at the Beit El Yeshiva, and four years at the Kedumim Yeshiva.
Living Halakha: Yeshivat Har Bracha
In 1988, Rabbi Melamed was elected as the Rabbi of the Har Bracha community, and in 1992, he established Yeshivat Har Bracha, which he continues to head today.
His dual roles as a community Rabbi and a Rosh Yeshiva create a unique synergy between the Beit Midrash and daily life. Serving an idealistic community deeply involved in the national, economic, and security fields ensures that his halakhic rulings are not merely theoretical, but practically engaged with modern challenges.

Editorial Work: He spearheaded new editions of classic texts, including the Shelah (Shnei Luchot HaBrit) and the writings of Rabbi Tzadok HaKohen of Lublin.
The Revivim Column: As the spiritual driving force behind the Besheva newspaper, Rabbi Melamed writes the weekly Revivim column, which enjoys vast exposure. The columns, addressing issues of marriage, society, the Land of Israel, and the legacy of Israel’s great sages, have been compiled into a multi-volume book series.
Public Leadership: In his earlier years, Rabbi Melamed played foundational roles in establishing the Ariel Youth Movement, the Rabbinical Council of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, and the Arutz 7 radio station.
